Where to travel in 2023: Top Destinations

Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is a favorite destination for those looking for an easy weekend getaway outside of the continental U.S.

Great for all types of group travel, Puerto Rico is most loved for its Caribbean beaches and colorful colonial architecture. In addition, historical fortresses and stunning waterfall hikes mean there is something for everyone on this island.

Asheville

Asheville is nestled between North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains and the Great Smoky Mountains. And there isn’t a bad time to visit. When it’s sunny, there are endless hiking trails in the mountains for all experience levels. In Autumn, the fall foliage makes it an especially beautiful time to explore Asheville’s great outdoors.

Rain or shine, this city also excels in a different area: beer. Friends that share a mutual love for craft beer will easily occupy their time on a trip to Asheville, self-dubbed “Beer City USA”.

Tulum

Where to travel in 2022 for picture-perfect beaches? Lured by the images of boho beach bars set on turquoise Caribbean waters, visitors are flocking to Tulum for honeymoons, romantic getaways, and bachelor/bachelorette parties. While you could quite happily spend your time sipping margaritas by the sea, there are also spectacularly intact Mayan ruins, magical cenotes, and nearby towns worth exploring.

Discover our favorite places to stay in Tulum, depending on what kind of vibe you’re looking for. If Tulum sounds too touristy to you, check out these hidden gems in Mexico instead.

Portland

Are you into block-long indie bookstores, artisan donuts, and all things just slightly off-kilter? Portland is your place. This Pacific Northwest metropolis embraces all things weird and it won’t take visitors long to get on board with the anything-goes mentality. You’ll never be too far from a brewery in Portland, which is a key aspect of an enjoyable Girl’s or Guy’s weekend away, whether you’re 21 or 81.

Lisbon

One of the quickest flights from the U.S. and easily accessible from the rest of Europe, Lisbon has quickly become a go-to getaway for families and friends.

The city is great for nightlife and dining, but it also has plenty of family-friendly activities, namely the nearby Blue Flag beaches like the ones in quaint Cascais, a quick train ride up the coast. Be sure to catch a Fado show while you’re in town and enjoy all the pastel de nata you can find.

The city also has a vibrant nightlife scene with a range of places to imbibe. Clubs, billiard bars, and live music venues are among the array of celebratory options. Catch a show at the infamous Red Rocks Amphitheater to really bond with your tribe over the music at a once-in-a-lifetime experience. When it comes to where to travel in 2023, Denver should be at the top of your list. Hike the Rockies during the summer or ski their slopes in the winter. There’s no bad time to visit.
